Frequency-directivity scanning in laboratory radar imaging

چکیده
This work concerns an extension of usual radar imaging in which the pictures of the target do not simply exhibit the position of elementary reflectors but also give the behavior of these reflectors when the frequency and the direction of illumination vary. Essentially, the technique consists in describing the target by a generalized image which can be computed from the knowledge of the backscattering function on a large domain in the angle-frequency space. A discussion of the physical relevance of the approach is given and its conclusions are used to derive a practical formulation relying on a special wavelet transform. The implementation of the technique is developed by using the fast Mellin transform. Special features of the method are the use of data in polar format without resampling and the fact that the computation could be easily parallelized.

A Hybrid Antenna Array Design for 3-D Direction of Arrival Estimation
A 3-D beam scanning antenna array design is proposed that gives a whole 3-D spherical coverage and also suitable for various radar and body-worn devices in the Body Area Networks applications. The Array Factor (AF) of the proposed antenna is derived and its various parameters like directivity, Half Power Beam Width (HPBW) and Side Lobe Level (SLL) are calculated by varying the size of the propo...
متن کاملHigh Gain Vivaldi Antenna for Radar and Microwave Imaging Applications
An Ultrawideband (UWB) high gain compact Vivaldi antenna with end fire radiation patterns is presented for radar and microwave imaging applications. The antenna is operating for 2.9GHz to more than 11GHz with -10dB impedance bandwidth and is designed on low cost FR4 substrate of thickness 0.8mm. While designing the proposed antenna, initially a compact exponential tapered slot Vivaldi antenna i...
متن کاملISAR Image Improvement Using STFT Kernel Width Optimization Based On Minimum Entropy Criterion
Nowadays, Radar systems have many applications and radar imaging is one of the most important of these applications. Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) is used to form an image from moving targets. Conventional methods use Fourier transform to retrieve Doppler information. However, because of maneuvering of the target, the Doppler spectrum becomes time-varying and the image is blurred. Joi...

The Global Precipitation Mission is currently being planned as a follow-on to the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission. One of the key components of the GPM science instrumentation is an advanced, dual-frequency rain mapping radar. In this paper, we present a potential system concept for this secondgeneration spaceborne precipitation radar. This proposed design ncorporates s veral advanced featu...
متن کاملA Survey of 1200-1800 MHz using a Discone and a Spiral with the Argus Front End
This document reports on a survey of radio frequency interference (RFI) in the band 1200-1800 MHz. The survey was conducted during business hours from the roof of the Ohio State University ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL), using two antennas. One antenna was a commercially available wideband discone antenna, which is weakly directive along the horizon, and has directivity ¿ 1 toward the sky. The...
